Is my suspension salvageable?

Hi guys,

I'm stripping my old golf and need suspension for another vehicle. Thing is, the old golf has been standing for a few years, so much of it is now not much use.

How do I know if the suspension is ok?
I can only get one wheel off at the moment, so I've taken pics of the spring. It looks rusted, but was working ok before I put the car off the road.

If it doesn't knock then it functionally ok.

My JOMs (similar quality it seems to what is fitted in your pic) lasted 3 years. They were rusty as hell when removed (knocking).

The knuckles also look tired but perfectly functional.

If you want shiny, get the wallet out :Y:

to check if the suspension is still okay push down on the corners of the car... it should come back up controlled and not rebound or make any knocking noises... if it rebounds the shocks have had it... they might not knock yet but officially that means they can't control the un-sprung weight of the car anymore and need replacing.
