Hi,

I've tried this and i got it to work once, not sure if I blew box or is cause id to extend the input connections and when I finished extending the cable I might have put em backwards.
I've a new box coming but a buddy suggested I put an inline fuse or swap out the one in fuse box, which wasn't blown during my first attempt either, for a higher one? Mine current one is 15 , I tried with a 20 but still nothing..
Anyone care to offer opinion?

Hi mate, I fitted a usb socket into my centre console and it works fine

I fitted a piggy back fuse to cigarette lighter and ran the live from that and the earth to the boss under the steering wheel

USBs draw about 0.5a per port.  Fast charging can draw upwards of 3A.  If you're blowing 15a fuses you have an issue.  Do not just fit a bigger fuse for Christ sake.

Does it blow with nothing connected?

It did not blow the 15a fuse for cig lighter.
Everything else still works cept those 2 ports I added in.
I tried with a 20a fuse but it didn't change anything so I swapped it back

Replace the ports, likely dead.

And the final solution..
Run a separate wire from battery, fused 10A about 3" from terminal, thru bulkhead and terminate on a block. Ran separate ground from one on steering column to same block and then wired in my ebay special usb box and voila!
Now just gotta mount them to the blank plates and bond 35f1939329162aa004b9a72099b6be48.jpg045bc6e1dae4b7144f0b6e249d0d5c73.jpg96a7924aaab78831bf39fd32341c2614.jpg

What circuitry is below that?  USB is 5v, car is 12v.
