Nah, I asked them that.  It's the same story with Robert Miles cars, who are like 2 mins up the road from me - Golf specialists who also do a 3 yr warranty.

You'd be looking at the same spec car for around £7500 with them though.

Sounds good, it could be 51 plate though. And, if it hasn't had the 60K service you can get him to knock some off

spend the extra on the BBT car, it might be black not grey but the £value (can well imagine the parts alone are £8.5k) just makes it a no brainer (assuming you can get insured) and it's been built properly with little expense spared i'd imagine (

Yeah defo gonna have a look at that one ASAP...  The guy reckons hes had quite a few calls in the space of a couple of days on it but nobody has viewed it yet...

The BBT one looks great Tom especially the ammount that has been spent on it but my budget just can't stretch that far and insurance is going to be pretty large on it!  If I had an extra couple of grand to throw about I'd probably give it a look, but alas I think I'm going to be slightly stretched as it is!!

Randomly had a call from a buyer shortly after who wants to make an offer on my motor lol, that's a bit of luck! [:D]

Hey Pricey, did you go check it out in the end?  I phoned up the guy and asked him about the cambelt, he said it hadn't been replaced and wouldn't need to be until 70k (yeah right!), I told him it was 60k but he insisted it didn't need doing, so I don't think he'll budge on the price for that.

 So, how was it?

Yeah an 02 plate will have a ko3s in it... might even be a 180 if its late 02 I think.

Not been able to go see the car yet for various reasons.  Luckily nobody else has either and I'm not going up there tonight. [:D]

I asked him about the cambelt and he said it was changed at something like 54k along with a major service...  If this turns out not to be the case then I'll be knocking the price down somewhat!

T10HJS: That looks like a nice spec 1.8t, bit more than I'd pay but hey!  the mileage is stupidly low!  I would imagine any mods you do to it will void the warrenty.

cool thats one less mod i will need to do i can start saving for a big turbo lol when i get ust to the power. not really to sure what to do then i might just to visual mods for a year the go onto the power increase, do you think i would get away with fitting a induction kit and dump valve as they can be easilly removed ? what about a stage one revo?  over all im looking to do a stage 2 but i need to have a 4bar fpr and exhaust before doing that which i cant quickly remove if something goes wrong. im hopefully picking it up on saterday [:D]

Well, I just got back from seeing it.  What can I say... lovely car, everything is in order, works... runs like a dream.  Service history is fine (cam belt changed at 56k), on 1 previous owner too!  It was absolutely mint, only a few minor scufs on the rear bumper where people have put things in the boot.  Apart from that... it's fine... even the leather interior is unmarked and looks prety much brand new!

So I've paid a deposit.  I couldn't budge him on the price... I think I know and he knows if I hadn't have bought it then someone else would have.

Yay, I finally have a turbo lol! [:D] [:D] [:D] [:D] [:D] [:D] [:D] [:D] [:D] [:D] [:D] [:D] [:D] [:D] [:D] [:D]

Nice one!  Looks like I got beaten to it, I was going to phone the guy this morning to arrange a viewing!

The only thing is the cambelt, when I phoned him over the weekend he mentioned it hasn't been changed and insisted it doesn't need changing until 70k miles.  Are you sure he didn't just tick the box in the service book himself?  Seems fishy to me, or it could just be a misunderstanding.

Hey Pricey,

I just got a call from the guy and he mentioned the car's still up for sale!?! [:o]

He has also now changed his mind about the cambelt and says it was done!  Hmm, seems really dodgy to me, did you get it HPI'ed?.  Just to make sure, the car and trader are based in North London right? Price £6790?

If he has taken a deposit from you, shouldn't he be declining viewings?  To test him out I asked if the car is available for viewing and he said yes!  I'd ask you to look into this beofre you proceed mate, hopefully I've just got it wrong.

What was the name of the guy you spoke to?  Yes it was North London, £6790

Everything seemed fine when I viewed - I had a mate come with me too.  I couldn't knock the price down as someone else would have taken it over the weekend.  The guy seemed fine, knew his stuff and was happy with me making the purchase.   He said he's retract the advert today.

I do, however, know that he has other cars for sale as when I first enquired about the "Golf GTI" he had for sale, he asked me which one?  So I suspect he may have another GTI for sale too.

Thanks for the warning though.

Chris:  I'll let you know once I've got it and of course you're welcome to pop round for a butchers and a spin!

Kev: Not sold mine quite yet but I have a guy comign down from Bristol tonight to look at it.  He's pretty keen on the spec (5dr, silver, 1.8) and has told me he wants to make an offer already.  So fingers crossed!

I didn't ask his name as it was in the advert (Ricky), he mentioned the same car on the phone to me this morning.

Did you see the service history of the car?  I'd check with VW (or whoever carried out) to see if it checks out.

Excellent news Phil… I’m sure if he is travelling that distance to look at the car then you will have a sale at the end of it. Fingers crossed for you

Yeah thats him.  I spoke to him again about 10 mins ago and asked for the VIN & Reg, which he had no problem giving me for a HPI check... The Service book was fully stamped, every service was VW stamped too apart from I think 2 of them.  The cambelt service was carried out by VW @ 56k.

Thanks for the comments guys, I'm tooking forward to picking her up next week!  Joe- you are so right haha! [Y][:D]
