k1 As above, my neighbours got one and its very nice...

S3. awesome car. Id buy one tomorrow if i had the money to fuel it.

or a MKiv r32 minter. not as rare you might think.

id say the s3 sounds like your best option given your circumstances and needs buddy. good luck with the purchase.

Try hold out for one with the Recaros in, are they CS's?

that one does have the standard recaro's not seen many with the CS's they are something like a £3,000 option so tend to add quite a bit to the value.

I have looked at these and i think the interior puts me off each time, it looks very plaaticy and dull, guess i need to see it in real life to make a judgement. the other thing that puts me off about the K1 is that i would be spending almost the same as the S3, the same engine and power as the S3, but without the quattro and the Audi build quality.

good suggestion though guys and i will take another look at them.

problem i find with s3 is they just look like any other audi inside and out, and thats not speical.

m3s are really really nice, but i still think people will just look at you as someone who couldnt afford a new one,

how about a m5? the last 2 previous gen 5 series are real beauties.

jap is crap! interiors fail so hard.

£9k xjr /xkr and £3k for petrol :P

E39 is in my opinion the best looking BMW every built. [Y]

The M5 was known for Vanos problems which are costly when they do go wrong.

C32 as with Mercs of that era aren't the best built and again will be costly if things go wrong.

Focus ST3 all the way.

Hmm, they do look a good car for the money, but it's not exactly any more of  a well refined machine and not all that much quicker. and it's also a ford... Stick out tongue

 how about a jap car.

fully modded s15 can be bought from ireland for 6-7k. you would pay over 11k for the same car over here. or even a r33 gtr or r34 gtt.

i have looked at Jap cars but at the mo i want something more sturdy and comfortable rather than tiny and mental... Wink although i have always wanted an R34...

R34 GTR (which is what you want) are rarer than hens teeth in a standard, good condition. Most are the GT which are rubbish and don't have the fancy electronics. Most of the GTRs have been given a million horsepower and thus demand a million pounds Sad

have you even ever owned a skyline at all?

prob not as the 34 gtt aint rubish one bit. oh and the gt is a different spec to what i posted.

the 33 gtst can be bought oem for 3k. if you do the work yourself you can get 500bhp out of them for an extra 4-6k depending on spec.

34gtt has the rb25det neo which has solid lifters and higher rpm limit. gtr body conversions are available and these can be tuned to silly power levels too. most are tiptronic though.

you don't need to own a car to have an opinon on it...the skyline R34 GTR are the best ones because they get the fancy electronics with the playstation screen showing boost, yaw and g forces. [:D]

Wudnt go Jap e.g. skyline if you want some sort of fuel consumption.  Great cars for the weekend but not for everyday use and comfort.  Personally I'd either go for new shape S3 + remap or MK5 golf gti with decent remap etc and possibly have a little left over.  I do like the mk5 golf R32's alot and was debating getting one before i got my diesel but getting under 20 mpg most of the time would be a real stinker.  Although I'm starting to go off my diesel (because of the engine sound etc compared to petrol) and would like a new shape S3 when i get a little more money maybe

mk5 r32, new shape s3, or mk2 TT?

all good choices. however i test drove a MKV DSG R32 and wasn;t all that impressed. the car itself, the design/interior/feel of it are all amazing, much nicer than MK4, but the engine didn't seem all that especially for the MPG you'd get.

That's the whole reason the Mrs and I didnt buy one, loved the car, noise, recaro seats but felt underwhelmed by the performance especially when an e46 M3 is cracking out 83 bhp more and was less money at the time.

End up with a 225 TT Coupe with a map seemed so much more lively to drive

its true for the same money you can get an E46 M3, however the running costs are in a complete different league!

was the MKV R32 DSG not responsive enough? or didnt live up to you expectations?
