Well, what i done to my MK5 today??
Bumped it into MK1 Ford Mondeo. Fu"" I hate this feeling now!!!
My MK5 has not even got single scratch on it, which is good news, but Mondeo needs new bumper and indicator! Hopefully the guy who owns Mondeo will not go through insurance, i offered him to pay cash for repairs. Lets hope its not mega £££.
Nice bumper by the way, what are you planning to do with old one???

Like the bumper, is that a "conversion" one or a genuine one?
Bumper is genuine but with TDI front panel

eBay my friend! They're not genuine articles, made by depo who make all the ones the Mk4 guys rave about. Cost £109 with £7.50 postage.
I used Philips X-treme H7 in the dipped beam (£23 from eBay), Osram night breaker plus h7 in main beam (£13.50 from eBay and incredibly bright), and these LED sidelights from eBay (£13.99, very nice white light).

Reccomended on R32oc forum.
Beam pattern is very good, even got complimented by the guys at the garage!
Link to the lights!

Come with levelling motors installed, and are a great fit once they're in properly.

Haha noo a link to the bumper I don't want your crappy reflector headligths! [:#]
Olsen, when you say front panel do you just mean the polystyrene bumper thing, I was under the impression the genuine R32 and GTI bumpers didn't fit without a lot of work [:S]
Posted 07 January 2012 - 05:47 AM
They fit [] but as u said: lot of work [brick]. It took me over 4 hours to do it. And the front panel I mean the panel which holds radiator. Normally u have to change it too or cut the bumper a little bit.

Those depo lights look good but do the have the VW logo in them?
I want the vw logo? If not anyone know how much genuine ones are?
Posted 07 January 2012 - 01:03 PM
They don't have the logo, but I know that it's removable as theres a screw holding it in. Same on the original hella ones but a torx instead!
Ive been thinking about it too, dunno of they can be bought from VW or not!

How hard would you say it is to change it over??

I'm gonna get those lamps too. Looks good and still quiet cheap

I'd say very simple, depending on the fit of the VW symbol. Theres no reason why they shouldn't fit tho!!

Good man, with the bulbs I have fitted above they're brilliant and still look the part. Thoroughly reccommend the side lights too.

Cheers mate! Nah just using normal camera then the snapbucket app to add that border! It does need some severe lows, depending on how much you're thinking for your eibachs I might do. I think it needs new rear shocks tho as they're saggy and dont absorb much shock!
Let me know when you're ready tho!

Olsen, so just to confirm if I was to pick up a genuine GTI or R32 bumper, I can simply cut away some of the bumper? I wouldn't want to change other bits to be honest, rockets up the cost hence why I was looking at the normal sort of conversion bumpers..
So do you have any photos of what you did?
Posted 12 January 2012 - 01:20 PM
No mate. I dont have photo of that but i'm waiting for the new headlights and to change them i have to take the bumper off so i can make some pic if u want to. I'm not sure ifthat will be on this or following weekend. U need to cut/trim the bumper (behind grill) and plastic bumper guide and cut off top part of the air guide ( plastic w. rubber). I'm not sure if this will be the same job on GTI coz the guy who guide me told me i need to drill 2 holes but on the end i didnt. He did it on GTI. So i'm not sure about it.
