Why not ask on a forum that deals with, I dunno, Seat Leons? You might just get lots more help and opinions.

 I owned one last year,

Was one of the best cars I owned so far, Drove better than the Golf,

Had a stage 1 map on it, Forge TIP & Boost hoses, Neuspeed induction kit & Forge 007p recirc valve,

Once all that was done it totally transformed the car,

Faults to watch are similar to the Golf ones as they are based on the same platform, Also check the rear carpets are dry as the door seals were prone to leaking

Think the posts above cover the issues & what to watch for, but in my limited understanding of these, the yellow paint is prone to fading, and the Recaro seat option is sought after.

Never seen a Recaro leather option, but as far as I know, you could spec Recaro fronts, and also rear sports seats, making it a 4 seat car. Rare to see both options, but pretty nice if you can find them!

the rear recaros only come on the 210bhp version all 225bhp have a standard 3 seat rear setup, with only the option of recaro front seats only. they are an extremely underated car, i only have the cupra, smoother looks :) but the cupra r always looks so aggresive on the road. put a stage 1 map on it and your looking 260ish bhp. common faults are much the same as the golfs really, and stay away from onvi yellow ones.

Save your money & dont bother with the Front Mount intercooler,

They have twin side mounted ones & are good for the 300 bhp mark

Had mine 4 weeks, golf before this.

As said, usual 1.8t faults, temp sensor, thermostat and coil packs.

Every bit as good as a Golf IMO, just way quicker than my old one

I got one mainly because its still VAG, changed from mk4 golf, which are very hard to do something different with now

Posted Image

Really dislike mk5 golfs - so that was a non starter, thought about s3's

Wanted something fast, comfortable, practical and reliable.

68k, full seat history, totally standard (then lol!)

As you said before, looks mean in your mirrors when behind you

as above great all round car that wipes the floor with simular vag cars of its year and spec,

210 was early and then the brought out the 225 version with revised mirrors and a few very minor tweeks

options were recaro seats and sat nave but at £1500 each they rarely got speced up to it,

in terms of faults all the usual golf mk4 faults apply,

in terms of power both 210/225 map the same, they will see roughly 250/260 bhp stage one, stage two with supported mods upto and some over 300bhp.

great cars

Best car I've owned.

All the usual faults have been mentioned.

Just get one. You won't regret it.

Well....I've had an Ibiza Cupra in Gun Metal grey..looks like a baby brother to the Leon wearing the same wheel's but 17"s! lol

The car was amazing! and i'm not saying that lightly!...Stage 1 done by JabbaSport, the car was a complete animal, wasn't many things that could keep up with me, handling was excellent and the brembo's would rip ya face off braking hard! lol...[<:o)]

Car was written off by a biker that came off in bad weather in the fast lane of the motorway....dark, no street lights.....too late to avoid, car went over the bike... 360 spins and ended in the hard shoulder.....[cry]

Only thing I had to do to the car was brake pads and tyres! lol

Hard to get a nice one these days...and hard to find!!....

Was thinking of a Leon Cupra R and i'll probably get one day!......Like others have said, under rated car by miles!
