Not really sure on the rear however I'll leave my final opinion until I see one on the road.

I suspect it'll be 2014 before I change the mk6. At this stage, it doesn't inspire me ( nor does my dealer which really puts me off ) BUT you get so much more for your money than on an a3...

I wonder how high up the range you have to go to get proper suspension Confused

Difference is below 121bhp according to what car

Not impressed far with the mk7 Golf.  Front end looks terrible.  Side ends look like a Audi A3.  Electric Handbrake sounds worrying.

That looks a bit better from the rear, although they always do [clap] Reminds me of the Civic 7th series with a few subtle differences. Yet to see a 2005+ car look half-decent without that cheap-ass looking rear valance. Why oh why do they do it?!

Re the electric handbrake, from the photo the button looks like the system in the Tiguan which they dont have any problem with, the one in the Passat with the button on the dash they have a lot of problems with.

agreed mate, I thought the rear was horrible from that shop and the front end isn't too desirable, but it might look better on the road.

I like it. Though I don't think its particularly different. But why should VW not play it safe...would be silly to do something differed and potentially lose business of the best selling hatchback on the market?

I suspect it'll be 2014 before I change the mk6. At this stage, it doesn't inspire me ( nor does my dealer which really puts me off ) BUT you get so much more for your money than on an a3...

Do you really think so? Brand new A3 S-line, half leathers, 1.4TFSI, multimedia centre (no nav), xenons etc is about 22k.... Scirocco/Golf with similar spec would be knocking on for 25k from what I have seen?

Oh and let's be honest. The A3 looks heaps better and the inside is a much better place to be (MUCH!).

Not really a good comparison as the 22k sline only gets the 122 bhp engine, you get that in Golf match at 18k,if you go to 180 bhp its 25k.

There's no way that in 2009 I could have got an a3 sportback s-line with 160bhp ( ok, that Power wasn't an option with Audi ), sunroof, front and rear parking, heated seats, Bose, dual zone climate, metallic and nav for the £21.5k that my car cost. Even an interior light pack was £135 with Audi - standard at Vw. iPod was £200 I think - standard with Vw.

I think its awful, absolutely awful. The worst golf yet.

Front quarter lights? Thought we left that behind in 1992 and that notch on the C pillar, horrid.

And then the interior...

Give me an A3 any day of the week.
