My current MK6 Golf was about £18k on the road with sunroof and metallic paint and a few extras that were later fitted the Match version.

I configured the MK7 to be as similar to mine as possible but of course some more advanced features are included as indeed is that unwelcome electronic parking brake with auto hold. I made the SE version ca £21k which is quite enough thank you very much.

I have configured, as I said above an SE but it calls it Bluemotion Technology and I see no mention of retractable wing mirror unless I'm missing something. Also the standard features seem a bit muddled in that automatic wipers are mentioned but then it say four position delay?

Also, don't like that brushed bright trim. It looks gaudy and flashy.

Yaaaay

The model I would buy is £28k

LOL.

Problem is I would hold out for the high powered TDI..

And also is it me or are all of the OEM wheels boring compared to the Mk5 and MK6... crying out for after market.. ha ha ha. Metallic paint not included as standard? hahaahahahahahha.

It's £950 for the nice crystal white.. far right in the paint thingy.

Don't get me wrong, I love VW's but the price is just... damn.

The configurator for, say, the 1.4 SE doesn't tally with the pdf brochure. There is conflict with what you can specify as extras, notable retractable door mirrors. On says yes but the configurator says no, I believe.

Yours is a GT so starts at 3k more! Cheater haha. This is serious money for a golf considering an R32 was barely 30k when it was first launched right?

Agreed. I can't help but wonder if a kind-hearted dealer (although i appreciate that such a thing may not exist) would allow you to swap them for the turbines off the Passat CC or Rocco?

Yes, the configurator is 'live' but very unreliable as I have hinted, above. It's far too early days to believe anything about the models and what is standard and what is available as optional extras.

When my car came out it wasn't available with a sunroof but was so after a few months. Anyone who preorders these, so early on, is nuts, in my opinion.

The engines now are just the launch ones. Newer engines will be released in Q1/Q2 next year.

Ahhh true! But it's not cheating if that's the spec/trim/extras i want! Nice to see that VW still charge over £750 for xenons Ick!

You say that but I think £750 for xenons isn't a bad price.. although on the GT models I personally think they should be standard... I was looking at a GT86 at the weekend (actually a very nice car, didn't drive it but inside it feels the biz'') and Xenons are standard on that.

Combined with the fact, certain selfish people on a certain forum with (19 x 2) = x in the name charge £400 for a set of Xenons which are 8 years old.......... Not bad value to be honest. On my car being honest I would spec up a nice interior, big audio system and Xenons. I would have the sports knob but that apparently can't be used with the sports pedals. I'd have both of those.

Everything else, just leave stock - Wheels, etc. the wheels and lows can be easily achieved later.. I've only got £4500 left on my finance. I could realistically sell my car for that and pay it off. And then buy a new Mk7 with a phat ass loan (and a few £20's).... TEMPTING :o

Yeah we should see the new 184PS 2.0 TDI make an appearance sometime in 2013 in GTD form. Figures look amazing and the reviews of this engine in the  new Leon are very promising.
