That centre console reminds me of the mk4 and for that reason it's growing on me [Y]

Its always going to be a bit of a grower, VW are always fairly safe when it comes to the Golf. I can still remember not thinking much to the mk4 when it came out, now I've got one, always hated the mk3, now after owning 2 I like them.

And there was me thinking my new mkv was huge compared to my mkiv!

Jeez - this thing has some bad angles - on that black one, bonnet looks very long for a modern hatch vs rake of the screen, & it has front quarterlight windows - hmmm, not for me. Am sure it will sell well...

I'm going to hold out for the GTD I think, based on how good the Leon reviews were with the new engine it should be ultimate in the Golf!

I'll post the photos I took tomorrow

Nice, lets try and keep this thread going until they hit UK roads! [y]

Sorry about the quality they are from my phone, also I know its not a Golf MK7 but while I was in VW I asked them if they did the vinyl wrapping as my sister has a company that does it and I want to see how much VW were charging. The guy showed me this.

Posted Image

Then told me the damage £1900 what an utter rip off, top money should be £1200 max so I asked him why it was so expensive and he said it costs them that. Something I really dont believe VW spinning lies again, that price is for the Rocco and MK7 he said it was more for a Passat or Jetta.

I like the front end but the rear isn't really up to much in my opinion, and personally I think the interior looks abit cramped, could be just the picture though!

Nice to see it with the standard dashboard screen rather than than larger optional screen.

Wonder what (if anything) the inner portion of the DRLs actually do?  It's like they should be lit up as are the outer portions.

Guess we'll not know 'til someone gets hold of one!

Anything black is a 'dust magnet' and that is why I'd never, ever buy a black car. I would willingly accept one as a competition prize, of course and then get rid of it quickly.

well omg i saw the concepts but really didnt think they was going to go ahead and make it look like that. front looks like a over sized polo, what is up with the little window next to the mirror (family car look [+o(]) and the back is okayish but its nothing wow.

well i do remember thinking the mk6 wasnt all that when that came out and i ended up buying one lol so i think im going to have to see this in the flesh and may be some mods done to it before i start liking it.

bit of a let down but lets hope by the time it comes to the uk it wont be [facepalm]

This is definitely growing on me, love the new key shape and LOVE the white interior illumination scheme general look of the interior, even if it is a bit too Audi, and liking the little white light strip on the door card interior trim. Still think the exterior is a bit bland in anything less than GT spec though.

I should probably update this thread...

01 is the 'Durban' and is on the page beforehand - in the German brochure.  The 'Durban' appear to be the wheels on the models in the brochure but aren't available as an option in the UK.

The only thing I'm not happy about is the lack of Multilink rear suspension on the lesser powered models (sub-140PS), this is a downgrade from the MK6/ MK5 and will affect the handling adversely

The Mk7 isn't a bad looking as you may initally think. - I think it features alot of the Mk4 in it's looks. especially the front of the Car, and the Dash.

Don't knock it down too much, I think that the Mk7 has a lot of potential, and It's a refresh from the Mk5 Golf. which quite frankly, hasn't really changed through the Mk6.

I really like the fact that they brought back the plain C-Pillar from the Mk4 and removed the ghastly door line from that C-Pillar.

I have the Mk4, and Love it to bits, but I would consider the Mk7 to be a worthy replacement when I'm older and have a good paying job.

but My Mk4 will always have a place in my heart, despite all of the pain and trouble it's caused me in the period between April 2012 till now.

The Mk6 Marked the Death of the PD 1.9 TDI, and that is the largest disappointment to me.

Side note: It's having it's 11th Birthday on the 18th!
