Tis true. Anni prices have dropped. Only Sold mine for £7350 with 70k on the clock and full VW service history etc. I started at £9k, ppl where expecting and brand spanking new one for that price. So soon as they saw the stone chips, wheels etc, they done a runner! So i had to drop it!

In regards to the 03 plate, very rare but there out there! mind you, never seen an 02! What number is your 03 anni fellow poster above [:D]

Just realised its 1400 and something. So what happend to the other 400 after. Were they all 03 aswell? How did they do the numbering system?

Im gonna put it up in the classifieds for £9250 ono......that sound about right?

Ta

Another thing to consider - 2005 MK5 GTI circa. 70k+ on the clock can be had for £8.5k+.

Special edition or not it does seem slightly daft that a five/six year old GTI can fetch more than the latest generation model.

They were numbered in order of dealerships requesting a no. Not every car was registered with VW Uk either, hence the gaps.

Your entitled to your opinion which is fair enough......

But at the end of the day it is a special edition, built in limited numbers in which most are owned by enthusiast.

My car park at work is full of New GTI's and see loads of them on the roads which is why they depreciate soo quickly........especially the ones that have done 30-40k miles per year!!......

Not quite a good comparison there IMO......but none the less......point noted.

Having owned an Anniversary I can really appreciate what you're saying, I sold mine for a little under what I paid for it the year before. Great car and it really did give the feeling of driving something a bit special.

I guess what I was trying to point out was other, newer, models are available that would probably match the level of depreciate the Anniversary is now subject to. If we were having this conversation in ten years time I could probably better grasp the price some of the recent Anniversary models have been up for!

Great car and it really did give the feeling of driving something a bit special.

The stretched tyres and slammed KW's no doubt contributed towards that [:DD]

Mine is a 1.8T @ 35,000 miles and is basically 100% mint...but I have no idea what its worth. I paid £9k 16months ago, but with the rarety of the thing, I would personally expect to at least break even....

than again I might be being greedy... [:P]

someone offered me 8k for my Anni last weekend and its a petrol on 47K.

Personally i wouldnt sell it for anything less than 8k mate as yours is a TDI with very low mileage. That should be desirable enough.  You should advertise it at 8.5k and go from there.

Whilst the Anni is a 'special' car amongst Golf enthusiasts, their values have fallen sharply in recent months. Firstly, it's a 6 year old car, secondly the whole car market is being battered by the credit crunch, thirdly prices of standard 150 PD's and 1.8 T 180's have also dropped significantly and ultimately an Anni is only a cosmetically improved version of these models.

I'm not convinced that the Anni will become a sought after classic in a few years. Like the Mk 3 Golf GTi models they were good all round cars in their day, but never the best or fastest performance cars, and consequently they don't have a big enthusiast following today. The only Mk 4 Golf that will probably become a sought after classic is the R32 (if you can afford to run one).

There seems to be a lot of anni TDIs with 60k miles for around 7.5k, seems the market value has dropped in recent months

I've just sold my Anni (PD 150) so can only go on my experience(I won't go into price details as thats for the new owner to divulge if he so wishes) but low milege examples are still going for strong money and if they weren't worth that they wouldn't sell.

Don't believe the hype on here, I got asking price for mine last month (minus the cost of the service and MOT as the new owner wanted to do it himself)... if it's a good one, it'll sell - you just have to wait for the right buyer as it is a niche market.
